Wildlife & Birding.

Shiwa Ng’andu hosts an exceptional variety of birds and animals, making the estate a sanctuary of biodiversity. Antelope, zebra, and smaller mammals roam freely, while wetlands and forests provide habitats for rarer species. Among the highlights are the elusive sitatunga antelope, perfectly adapted to Shiwa’s marshlands, and the striking palm‑nut vulture, a distinctive bird often seen soaring above the estate. Alongside these, countless resident and migratory birds enrich the skies, creating a haven for ornithologists and nature lovers. Careful stewardship ensures these populations thrive in harmony with estate operations, reflecting Shiwa’s enduring commitment to conservation, ecological balance, and the preservation of its remarkable natural heritage.

Anti-Poaching & Habitat Protection.

At Shiwa Ng’andu, we are deeply committed to protecting wildlife through comprehensive anti‑poaching initiatives. Within the estate, trained scouts work tirelessly to patrol conservation areas, remove snares, and safeguard vulnerable species. Our efforts are closely coordinated with Zambia’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), ensuring that conservation strategies align with national priorities. In addition, we invest in specialized training programs for tracking and anti‑poaching dogs, forming dedicated K9 units that enhance detection and deterrence. These combined measures strengthen the estate’s ability to protect biodiversity, preserve ecological balance, and uphold Shiwa’s legacy of stewardship. Our anti‑poaching work reflects a proactive, long‑term vision for conservation and sustainability.
